Summer is here

21st June 2010

So, what's new at Bowland Village Inns?

Let's start with a big congratulations to Joanna Wakefield from The Fenwick who was married at the end of May to her long suffering fiancé Steven Pyle, all of the staff at Bowland Village Inns and I wish you both a life time of happiness.

This week sees the start of Wimbledon, will Andy Murry collect the silverware or is it going to be another summer of disappointment? Either way to celebrate Wimbledon we have commissioned our own wild strawberry and clotted cream ice cream available throughout all our Inns during Wimbledon so call in and let us serve you a portion.

Our ever popular murder mystery evenings return this month as we welcome you to the Cafe René let Madam Edith entertain you with her voice, while we try to hide the two British airmen and the fallen Madonna, in a evening full of twists and turns one thing can be guaranteed, great food and hospitality.

World cup fever is sweeping the nation as we try to cheer on a disheartened England, where better to enjoy the whole match day experience than at The Plough, Sean and Chris have teamed up with special drinks offers for the matches and Head Chef Julie Rigby has created an imaginative menu to reflect the spirit of the world cup so join us as it's the closest thing to being in South Africa. Plus check out our beer garden, probably the best beer garden in the area!

Jack Frost

13th May 2010

Jack Frost has been out again last night. I hope the strawberry plants in our stunning garden at The Plough have survived the night! When they are ripe I have a perfect recipe for Crème Brulee which will be featuring on The Plough specials boards so look out for them.

Don't worry though, I will post the recipe on here for you to try at home as well.

So a quick round up of our food. Julie and her team at The Plough have been extremely busy over the last few weeks. Not only have they started a new menu with mouth watering dishes, they served up stone baked pizzas from a wood fired oven all over the bank holiday weekend during The Plough's annual Garden Festival. This year people had the opportunity to watch a battle of local bands, comedians and children's entertainers. There was really something for everyone, keep your eyes peeled for next year's date as it's an event not to be missed for more information join The Plough's group on facebook or send us an email.

So to The Punchbowl. Head chef Jason Armstrong formally of Heathcoat's flagship restaurant is due to launch his new menu this weekend, without giving to much away, Jason has created a menu full of modern greats and old classics, I know I have had a great time tasting the new menu and all I can say is, it's delicious and well worth a visit over the next couple of weeks.

And last but by no means least The Fenwick, very much like The Punchbowl, Paul and I are putting the finishing touches in place for our new menu which is currently at the printers.

All I will tell you, there is an entire new salad menu where the salads are dressed at your table and we have increased our tasting boards to 3.

Right I have told you enough already, I must go and check on those strawberries, I look forward to seeing you at some point soon.
